Regression therapy used in our study
is a form of therapy that involves
exploring past experiences and emotions to better understand their impact
on present-day issues, such as menstrual pain and discomfort.
This method helps to resolve unconscious conflicts and negative patterns of behaviour that may be impacting their mental and physical health. It is a non-invasive and non-pharmacological approach that involves guided regression to uncover and process past experiences and emotions.
Explanation
The regression therapy (RT) used in the study is a specific form of regression therapy that is tailored to address menstrual pain and discomfort. It involves a trained therapist guiding the participant through a relaxation process to reach a state of deep relaxation and heightened awareness. Once in this state, the participant is able to explore past experiences, emotions, and behaviors that may be contributing to their menstrual pain and discomfort.
During the exploration process, clients may work with a qualified therapist to identify and explore emotions and experiences that may be contributing to their menstrual pain and discomfort.
It’s important to note that the RT is not a quick fix or a one-size-fits-all solution. It requires a commitment to the process and a willingness to explore and confront potentially difficult emotions and experiences.

How does the RT work
to address menstrual pain
and discomfort?
During an exploration session, a trained therapist will guide you through a relaxed state and help you access past memories and experiences. Traumatic situations and intense emotional states may arise during the exploration process, but these will be addressed by the therapist in a safe and supportive environment.
It’s important to note that transgenerational trauma, as portrayed by epigenetics, or other challenging situations may also arise during the exploration process. However, your therapist will be equipped to address and manage these situations as they arise.
By exploring and resolving these underlying issues, participants may experience a reduction in their pain levels, discomfort and an improvement in their overall quality of life.
Requirements for Clients
Clients who are compatible with regression therapy
are typically those who are willing and able to explore their past experiences and memories.
They should have an open mind, a good sense of self-responsibility, and a willingness to engage in exploring
and processing unconscious conflicts and negative patterns
of behaviour.
Who is not compatible
with Regression Therapy
Clients who are not able to enter a state of deep relaxation and heightened awareness through guided relaxation techniques may not be compatible with the regression therapy. Additionally, individuals with severe mental health issues, such as psychosis or severe personality disorders, may not be suitable candidates for this method.
While the regression therapy can be effective for many individuals, there are certain factors that may make it less appropriate for certain clients.
These may include:
Active substance abuse or addiction issues
Acute psychosis or other severe mental health issues
Currently taking medications for mental health conditions
Limited ability to return for therapy sessions in case complex issues arise and need addressing
A low sense of self and personal responsibility
